Captain Seymour Butler

I have very few photos passed down through the family of my grandfather. Henry Seymour Butler was born in Bath in 1875, he owned a couple of shoe shops & was on various committees. I had another look at the old newspapers this morning & there he was.

Ruby Tuesday Too

My one & only double poppy has it's day!

On a nastier note, last evening Sparky caught 'something' - not sure if it was a mouse/rat or bird. Wouldn't leave it alone & I couldn't get to it or Sparky so he stayed out ALL NIGHT!
This morning didn't turn up until gone 9 am. Didn't eat any food. When I went to discover what he had been doing I found remains of - not sure what. Had to go to the shed to get a garden tool to pick it up & what do you know, nearly walked in to a Redback Spider.
Think I'll spent the rest of the day indoors!!!

Monday Mellow Yellows

This looks like Leucospermum 'Yellow Bird' but it could also be a form of Waratah. Not sure.

More Books

It's been a busy week so far but nothing on the calender for the next four days. When I say nothing I don't mean there is nothing to do. After I have sorted out family history, made a few phone calls, done some left over domestic duties & catching up with what else is going on, I may have time to read!!!
Still getting through 'Romantic Outlaws' the extraordinary lives of Mary Wollstonecraft & Mary Shelley, by Charlotte Gordon - 649 pages.

Monday Mellow Yellows & Ruby Tuesday Too

Going through old photos I came across this. In 1984 I attended a silk workshop with Guntrud Witt and this was the last day when we hung all the silk in a quarry. Magic!

On another note congratulations must go to Sam & friends who ran the Chicago Marathon in rather warm conditions. As did 45000 others.

My thoughts & heart are elsewhere today, happy ones, no shadows.
My son Chris has a birthday today, down south so I won't get to see him but I do have lots of photos. Here is one over 45 years ago

Daughter Sam is getting some sleep before doing the Chicago Marathon

I don't know what the other two families are doing, in Queensland & England.

While I'm trying to journal my 'art life' in Australia 1969 - 2015
What an interesting mess!

Enjoy the day everyone.

Sparky & a snake.

Among the leaf litter & weeds (top left) I didn't see this snake but of course once it moved Sparky started to 'play' with it. It vanished into a bush followed by Sparky & I  couldn't do anything. I hope it ended up in next doors garden!! Sparky is fine.
