I was thinking plowed fields from the air. Then I thought about animal skins. But maybe bark peeling from a tree. Can I have three guesses? You have really stumped me. Good one.
I thought it looked like a corduroy patch or even felted knitting but you are correct with your 3rd guess Stephanie V. It is the trunk of a tree.
