No news on missing swimmer

Looks calm enough, but strong rips can be deadly.
THE search for a 30-year-old swimmer who disappeared after becoming caught in a rip at a northern Perth beach over the weekend has been suspended. The man was swimming at Yanchep at about 6.20pm on Saturday when his friend lost sight of him. At first light today, rescue teams continued to search for the man in the water and on the beach. But with no sightings, and no new information, police decided to suspend the search just before midday. Local volunteers will continue to check the beach over coming days, a police spokeswoman said.
