I don't know what it is either, but it's pretty and, apparently, a survivor!
I think it's a beach mallow of some kind. They like dry, sandy places.

This little flower reminds me of a buttercup. Beautiful little survivor.
It's a pretty yellow flower! I like how such a delicate thing grows in a not-so-delicate environment.
Makes a nice yellow spot in the picture !
