O.D. on books!

This weeks books have got a bit out-of-hand - I seem to be reading 5 (and that's not counting the ones I'm dipping into).
What you might call a pile up.
Wending my way through 'New York', just about finished 'Growing Your Family Tree', the other two family history books are interesting, 'Growing Old Outrageously' isn't as good as I thought. Must find time to carry on writing my own history. Staying in today as it's wet & windy up here.
Ten seconds later the sun came out.

Eating out in Yanchep and Two Rocks

Decided to 'do lunch' at Sun City Country Club in Yanchep. Amazing views.
I chose Crumbed Prawns
I've had these before & they are tasty (maybe I should have had something else to try, next time).
My friend ordered Pumpkin & Spinach Lasagna, Chips & Salad.
It looked O.K. but ......... taste not so good! I believe the Salt & Pepper Squid is good. Will have something else next time - there will be a next time as it is a very pleasant place.
They were setting up for an evening meal.

On another note entirely, I was checking on family history & came across this about my grandmothers sister.   I think the newspaper journalist had fun reporting this in 1892.

Through the energetic action of Mrs. Arthur Bobbett, wife of a distinguished middle-weight boxer and cab proprietor, a curious question of domestic ethics was discussed before the magistrate at Westminster, the lady in question being the defendant, and Mr Robert Allplush, coffee-house keeper, the complainant. Is a man compelled under the rules of household felicity to ruin his digestion by eating his wife’s cookery, which he does not like? And has a wife the right to demolish the dishes which another cook prepares exactly to his taste? There are limits to the digestive capabilities even of a middleweight boxer and if he prefers a ham-and-egg tea, with bread and butter, to a banquet prepared for him by the partner of his joys and sorrows, he is entitled to enjoy it in peace; for thank heaven ours is still a free country. Mrs Bobbett does not think so, and when her husband disdained the turtle her own hands had made, and sat himself down to the ham-and-egg tea already mentioned, the irate lady bounced into the coffee shop and swept the dishes, the teapot and the cups to the floor. The only defence Mrs Bobbett set up was that she did not like her husband’s  preference for a coffee-shop cuisine when she rather prided herself on her own, but she steadfastly declined to pay for the damaged ware, even although Mr Allplush allowed the matter to stand over until he thought her temper had gone down. Mr De Rutzen, after hearing the whole story, ordered her to pay 26s.6d as damages and costs. But if Mr Bobbett has, after all, to disburse the amounts represented by his wife’s tantrums it may in the long run be cheaper to accept the domestic cookery and run the risk.

Ruby Tuesday Too

The start of something red.
I like to change the colour palette from cool blue to warm red & I don't have much in the way of art (not in the house, it's all hanging up at Capricorn House). So I decided to have a go at painting a red abstract.

Shadow Shot Sunday

Fishing late afternoon at Yanchep Lagoon.
One little dickybird standing on the rim,
three little dickybirds think they may get in,
nine little dickybirds decide to have some fun,
while one little dickybird find a spot of sun,
and these little dickybirds splashing out with glee
all in the shade of the old gum tree.

Such a beautiful day I decided to read outside. I'm only halfway through New York by Edward Rutherford and just dipping into Family History books. Enjoy the day out there everyone.

Eating out in Yanchep & Two Rocks

It was time to check out the latest eating place in Yanchep.
Popped in yesterday and decided to order Chicken Parmy Sandwich at $16. Some sandwich! It was HUGE! And came with chips (best I've had in a long time). Unfortunately I didn't take any photos so returned today and had a chat to the manager. There is seating for 100 - hard and soft seating (see below)
This couple enjoying a coffee with their lunch,
and these ladies had just eaten a Greek salad $14.50 and two of them shared a Caesar Salad $14 which they said was excellent, very large servings.
These cakes look amazing!
My camera battery ran out just after I took a pic of my Coffee so I'll go back and try again.
Pretty Cappuccino and very nice it was too!!
Parking is accessible (it's on the corner of Yanchep Central Shopping Centre). Although large compared to other places in the area, it doesn't seem noisy, the decor is modern, the view on one side is into the parking area, on the other vacant land yet to be built on. All in all a good place to catch up with friends.

Skywatch Friday

Cloud over Yanchep. The house I live in is somewhere among the tangle of power lines. Why can't they put all electrics underground - we have to have another power out again next week while they replace yet more poles.
A few weeks ago.
In the meantime why not look at other blogs who Skywatch.

Yesterday

After Breaky at Bibs  (I had scrambled eggs, bacon, spinach with sour dough), Terry helped with the framing of the piece 'Lepidoptera' that I am putting into the Wanneroo Art Award.
A collage of 95 + butterflies.
Didn't need lunch so I went to the lagoon to say farewell to the Surf Life Savers, Marshall & Aron. Strong currents, no one in the water.
Then it was on to the Library to help a few with their family history & pick up some books.
3 of the genealogy books are American with 1 British author.
After that I went to Coastal Family Wellness where Alex gave me a good going over!
Back home to watch Eggheads & my evening meal of steamed veg with fetta cheese & almond spread, chives.
