The Wednesday What's It
I would love the thank the person who sent me this card - unfortunately I can't read the signature! Anyone out there??? :~)
I was looking forward to my evening meal of roast chicken, potatoes, carrots & beetroot glazed with olive oil. I have just dropped it on the tiled floor & it's gone slithering all over the place with the dish in many pieces! :~(
That's life when you try to do too many things at once.

Talking ‘bout BOOKS
Good night Frank, thanks for the memories.
Still wading through ‘Captain C’ do wish I could hurry up & finish it! Methinks he uses an excessive quantity of elongated vocabulary ie: too many long words.
And then I arrived at page 356 where the good doctor explains that “ we all use every long word that we know as often as we possibly can, …”.
I started to look some of them up in the dictionary but gave up very quickly as it was taking up too much time (I guess I’m not as intelligent as I thought!) I will see it through to the end & then maybe get the DVD out.
Other books I am wanting to read are –
‘Gardening in your Nightie’ by Helen Yemm,
‘Vegemite Vindaloo’ by David McMahon his blog
‘Winds of War’ by Herman Wouk

Talking ‘bout BOOKS
Book of the month: ‘Captain Corelli’s Mandolin’ is taking me quite a while to get into.
I finished ‘The Reader’ by Bernhard Schlink last week, found part 2 more interesting than part 1.
Very brief today. My biorhythms say "mediocre - declining & getting worse"!!!
Check yours out here.

True Colours Thursday - Navy Blue
OK, OK, Ebony is black but the chair is NAVY & the jumper has some NAVY in it. Very difficult to write this as I am now sitting on the chair & Ebony is on my lap. I have the jumper on as it is cold here!

The Wednesday What's It
Today a friend reminded me of Roger Bannister & I dug out this photo. It shows him with Chris Chataway & Chris Brasher coming from Buckingham Palace & I am in the crowd (black coat, long rolled umbrella). I wrote to them all in 1999 asking if they could tell me when it was – they all wrote handwritten replies, snail mail. Sir Roger saying it was a petition to Winston Churchill to launch a campaign to raise money for a charity called the Historic Churches Preservation Trust.

Talking ‘bout BOOKS
I picked up ‘GRASSHOPPER’ by Barbara Vine for two reasons, one because I enjoyed ‘ASTA’S BOOK’ published in 1993, the other, I once lived in Maida Vale, London. Did I enjoy it? Not as much as I thought. Intriguing, interesting & different, it jumped about a bit too much.
Now it’s on to ‘The READER’ by Bernhard Schlink (on loan from a friend). More on the book next Sunday.
Waiting by the bedside is a little night reading, two cooking books, ‘The Shifting Fog’ by Kate Morton, ‘my Life as Me’ by Barry Humphries (from the library).A Barbara Kingsolver omnibus ($4 op shop buy) & ‘Thanks for the Memories’ by Cecelia Ahern ($2 op shop buy).
