Boxing in the late 1880s

55 rounds in September 1888.
Arthur BOBBETT is one of my ancesters.

12 rounds in  November 1888

 46 rounds in September 1890
You would have thought this was the time to give up boxing & get back to his day job!
But, no
In 1892 his wife served up turtle for breakfast!!
Read what happened next
He was a 'Cab Proprietor'  then a publican. In & out of court with one thing & another!
In the 1939 register they were living in Teddington (note says retired gentleman!)
He died in 1945, his wife Maria died in 1941.

Your boxing ancestor was quite a character Angie, his wife even more so, and a temperamental cook at that :) Sometimes I think about researching my famille but I never seem to get around to it!
