Plotting for a Food Garden week 17

Pathetic!! A few almost ripe strawberries. Almost nothing in the so called garden to EAT. Down to the last of the Roma tomatoes, lettuce is very bitter, spring onions are still tiny even the Mizuna has had it. It all needs pulling up & digging over, new potting mix added & maybe I can seed some more salad. Put it down to the hot weather.

Fun in the Lagoon this morning. For a better pic click onto Yanchep Paradise.

Talking 'bout Books

What a great surname for a gardening book! I would have liked a few recipes but only got some tips on cooking. Nice to dip into.
At the moment I am ploughing my way through 'Coming Home' by Rosamund Pilcher, all 1016 pages, up to page 509, so halfway and enjoying it very much. An easy read especially as about all I've done today is lay in front of the fan with the temperature up to 32 deg (outside was at least 42. Just hope all these people on the beach didn't get too burnt. Photo taken 9.30 am.

Plotting for a food garden week 16

Dug up some of the beetroot, small & sweet (I hope). Along with roasted tomatoes & breast of chicken they will be tonights supper.

Just wish the strawberries were ripe - go to work little bee, make honey.

I feel this is a very insignificant blog compared with the earthquake in Haiti. So tragic.

Skywatch Season 4 Episode 27

The lies, and truths, and pain? . . . oh! yet
Stands the Church clock at ten to three?
And is there honey still for tea?

Rupert Chawner Brooke (1887-1915)

Not a Church but formerly the Perth Boy’s School (1897), the Perth Institute of Contemporary Arts (PICA) building is an iconic heritage building located in the Perth Cultural Centre precinct. PICA houses a number of contemporary visual arts, performing arts and new media installations.

The Wednesday What's It

This is a poster at Perth Railway Station, please click to enlarge & read.

Not so funny was getting a 'Personal Astrological Reading' from JENNA here
I gave my name & date of birth & waited.

She sent a 6 page reading but I was a bit skeptical so I asked a friend to also get a reading putting in her name & date of birth. When we compared the two readings they were, apart from the name, exactly identical. This was free but we could pay to have a 'complete analysis'.
Then today I found these.....

Consumer fraud reporting
Astrofacts/Exposed
Astro Databank

I wonder how many people have been sucked in by this so called Astrologer?

Talking 'bout Books

'The Vanishing Act of Esme Lennox' by Maggie O'Farrell is a book to take your breath away, I could hardly put it down. Very moving.

I am now reading Richard Bransons autobiography - I'm already half way through as I am 'resting' with a bad back. Quite interesting, especially about Mike Oldfield & 'Tubular Bells'. I just happened to have known the guy who hired them all the instruments.
I wonder what happened to my LP?

Plotting for a food garden week 15

I was to work in the 'garden' today pulling out the Giant Mustard, Spinach & Cos that are flowering & going to seed but last night I bent down & wrenched my back muscles. So today has been pain killers, ice packs & laying down with Richard Branson (more about that tomorrow). I may just be able to pick some lettuce for supper.
Last night I had roast chicken with tomatoes, garlic & basil roasted in olive oil.

True Colours Thursday - Snow WHITE

This weeks colour on True Colours Thursday is Snow White. The best I could come up with is this - somewhat pink - piece of seaweed found on the beach.
I was told of other things found on Yanchep beach - a snake, a needle with yellow liquid in, beer cans, fishing line & lots of plastic. The rubbish bins were overflowing on Monday, always the way after a hot weekend.

The Wednesday What's It

'Triumph'full meeting with these two 'good guys' who are both volunteers for many organizations (fire, ambulance etc) they also do 'charity runs' so a trip to Lancelin may be on the cards.
While they were cruising on the road I was cruising around the world via Stumble. Came across some weird and wonderful things, like
'notice'
'sidewalk chalk guy'
Brandon McConnell
Theo Jansen
$10 worth of Sharpie
The Nobel Funk Off (sound on if you like some cool rock.)
Vincent Bousserez - Plastic Life
