Another sunset, books & fire

Another sunset over Yanchep, taken on the way to book club. All of us have different opinions on ‘The Shadow of the Wind’. Once again a very good & stimulating evening!

This afternoon a fire caused quite a bit of concern. According to the news it is still burning this evening. Thank goodness the wind has dropped.

Full Moon Easter

Finished reading ‘The Clan of the Cave Bea’r by Jean M Auel a couple of days ago. I must be one of ‘the others’ as my eyes became wet at the end. Am looking forward to the next volume ‘The Valley of the Horses’.

Then I read ‘The Notebook’ by Nicholas Sparks & finished it an hour ago. Very beautiful & heart rending love story. Sniff, sniff – glasses off , blow nose, not to be read without a tissue box handy (or a handkerchief that will have to be washed).

Now to the weather, warming up again, water temp 22ยบ this morning, chilly wind. Full moon on Good Friday.

Busy last week getting ready for visitors, printing out canvas for the exhibition at blender & thinking about what to do for the Wanneroo Art Award.

Stuff!!

My collection of ‘stuff’ just gets bigger!!

Have just finished reading ‘True Believer’ by Nicholas Sparks, very enjoyable. Now reading 'Clan of the Cave Bear’ by Jean M Auel. Fascinating story of life in the Ice Age, all 587 pages! Off to meet Liz Byrski on the 28th March would like her to sign my ‘Remember Me’ Christmas present.

The weather: bit warm but bearable with cooler nights. Good swimming weather. Sea breeze just kicked in - nice.

Cool weather at last

Awoke this morning at 7am after a, thankfully, cooler night to find a heavy mist covering Yanchep. The rest of the day has been wonderful, cool breeze blowing all the hot air out of the house although slightly humid. No rain forecast until my birthday so will have to keep watering the garden. Is it the last day of summer or was that yesterday or even tomorrow!!

Just finished reading ‘Escape to London’ by Mary Jane Staples. Would really like to get my teeth into a good book soon. Waiting to read ‘Shadow of the Wind’ the next book club choice, ‘People of the Book’ by Geraldine Brooks on order from the library & ‘The Clan of the Cave Bear’ by Jean M Auel recommended by Sam.

Busselton Babe

Wonderful weekend spent with Jade, Chris & baby Shannen. Sam drove to Bussleton, it took a while to get there due to road works, much better trip back. Shannen is so cute & such a happy little soul.

Red sky at night....... & yes it was a delightfull day today!!
Full moon tonight.

Sunset over Yanchep

Last evening the sunset was orange and blue & I took these photos from my front door.

Have just finished reading ‘Year of Wonders’ by Geraldine Brooks – what an unusual book. The moving saga of life in 'Plague Village'

Yanchep Library had Library Lovers bags ‘Blind Date with a Book’ sealed so that the book was not visible. So I’m now reading ‘Be Careful What You Wish For’ by Alexandra Potter, not the kind of book I would normally pick. Quite amusing, bit Bridget Jones.

Smiley Shannen

Very hot night, didn’t sleep much then the sea breeze came in at last this morning, cyclone Nicholas bearing down on the West Coast!! Still very humid & it’s taking a while for the house to cool down. Thankfully the weather people say it will be about 31deg on Saturday for the Capricorn Festival in Two Rocks.

Picture of Shannen being very happy – as always.

Rain needed

Taken from the beach at Yanchep last evening. Clouds but no rain.

Clouds but no rain - potplants surviving.

Once again absolutely stinking hot, humid, no sea breeze – 6.40pm & it’s still 36deg!!! Don’t know how much more we can take!!! My plants seem to be surviving! What a contrast to the other side of Oz .

Just ordered from the library a couple of book by Geraldine Brooks. Have finished reading ‘Mrs Fytton’s Country Life’ by Mavis Cheek, so many mistakes (needed a good proof reader). Now reading ‘Boy Soldiers of the Great War’ by Richard Van Emden, taken from diaries, letters etc. Not joyful reading but very interesting. In contrast to Grandfather William Beck who took ten years off his age, these boys added four or five. “Killed in action August 1916, aged 16.”

On a lighter note I just have to share this from a postcrosser I had to send a card to:

“Hello! How are you?
I am 23 years old and alive in the center of Barcelona.
I like to take a walk and to lose me by the streets,I like to play like a small boy, like me to be with my girl, I like to see rain from my window, and also notice rain on my skin. Barcelona is a very pretty city, and I will not deny that also I like.

It enchants to me to receive postal, and if they can be amused, far better
If you are not from English-speaking country, please write anywhere or other nice words in your own language. That will be so exciting to see other languages, and please write the date!”

Today I received a fabulous black & white card of an Escher still life & a delightful handmade card from Sweden.

Still very hot inside & out. Off now to have a cool salad…..

Rain at last.

We had some rain last night for about half an hour, very heavy & it cooled things down a bit but still very humid.

Hot - Hot - Hot!!

Absolutely stinking hot, humid, no sea breeze – 6pm & it’s still 35deg!!! The weather channel says we are having/getting thunder & lighting & rain - they LIE. Roll on Wednesday…..

Have finished reading ‘A Round-heeled Woman’, what to say? Not much! So on to another light read, ‘Mrs Fytton’s Country Life’ by Mavis Cheek, amusing..

Hope it’s cooler tomorrow.
