HOT,HOT,HOT
Mellow Yellow Monday #101
Perth's maximum climbed to 40 degrees on Christmas day, rivaling the hot Christmas of 2007, which reached 41 degrees. This now makes it the second hottest Christmas day in at least 17 years. This heat is not budging either, with Perth forecast to remain above 31 degrees through to next weekend, even nudging 40 degrees again today.
And everyone headed for the beach.

Plotting for a Food Garden week 61 +
Salad time -
lettuce, young spinach, the last of my spring onions, the first of my tomatoes, parsley, mint chives but no rocket. Mixed with small (not home grown) potatoes.
It's the Book Club Christmas Lunch tomorrow & I will be making bread. Not sure whether to try this bastard loaf or stick to a herb damper. Right now (as my bread maker has died) rising in the car is a bowl of multi-grain wholemeal loaf. I find it's the best place to rise & prove when there is no machine to do all the hard work. Should try the no knead bread one day!!
A few hours later....
On the right Laucke German Grain mix plus lots of seeds & nuts. On the left Laucke Barossa Sour Dough Rye mix plus red onion, sun dried tomatoes, salt, pepper, rosemary, thyme, Cheddar cheese, Parmesan cheese & pinch of spice. Yes, the crust slathered with butter tasted good!

Talking 'bout Books & stuff
After yesterdays tragedy on the road there was more news. A man bitten by a snake in Gingin (not far away) died & a raging bushfire at Karnup (down south) near Mandurah (no lives lost thank goodness).
The weather here has taken a dive temperature wise, I haven't been swimming for the last couple of days, plus my hip/back/leg is playing up. I've also been bitten by very small spiders (thought they were money spiders!).
While I was at the library giving Family History lessons I picked up these books. The Kate Atkinson one I started to read last week - not an easy read, plots within plots but I can't seem to put it down. Gives me an excuse to lay around.

Not good news - update
Two Rocks Road accident.
A 69-year-old British tourist has died after his vehicle collided head-on with a bus in Yanchep this afternoon. The man was initially trapped in his vehicle and later died at the scene. He was driving a Hyundai sedan northbound on Yanchep Beach Road near the intersection of Two Rocks Road when he drifted into the wrong lane and crashed into the Transperth bus. The bus was not in service at the time and had no passengers.
